What Information Should You Send to Get an Accurate Skincare OEM Quote?
Want an accurate skincare OEM quote? Learn what information beauty brands should send about formula, packaging, MOQ, target market and launch timing.

“Please send me your best price.”
This is one of the most common messages skincare manufacturers receive.
But if the product details are unclear, the quotation can only be approximate.
For beauty brands, a more accurate quote starts with a clearer project brief.
1. Product Type
First, tell the manufacturer what you want to develop.
For example:
- Facial serum
- Cleanser
- Cream
- Lotion
- Sheet mask
- Lip product
The more specific the product type is, the easier it is to evaluate formula, filling and packaging costs.
2. Stock Formula or Custom Formula?
This makes a big difference.
A stock formula can usually be quoted faster.
A custom formula may require more information about:
- Active ingredients
- Texture
- Skin feel
- Fragrance
- Product benefits
- Target skin type
If you already have a reference product or formula concept, share it.
3. Packaging Requirements
Packaging can significantly affect the final cost.
Try to provide:
- Bottle or jar type
- Capacity
- Pump, dropper or cap style
- Label or direct printing
- Custom box requirements
If you are not sure yet, ask the manufacturer to recommend options based on your target price.
4. Estimated Order Quantity
Quantity affects both formula and packaging cost.
Instead of saying:
“Small quantity.”
It is better to say:
“We are considering 5,000 pcs for the first order, with the potential to reorder if the launch performs well.”
This gives the manufacturer more useful information for pricing and planning.
5. Target Market and Sales Channel
Where you sell also matters.
A product for:
Amazon → DTC website → salon → clinic → retail store
may require different packaging, positioning and cost considerations.
Your target country can also affect labeling, documentation and logistics planning.
6. Target Price Range
If you already have a target purchasing cost or retail positioning, share it.
This helps the manufacturer recommend a more realistic solution.
For example, if your budget is limited, a standard bottle with custom branding may make more sense than a fully custom packaging mold.
The goal is not simply to reduce price.
It is to find a product configuration that fits your business model.
7. Expected Launch Date
Timing affects:
- Sampling
- Formula development
- Packaging sourcing
- Artwork approval
- Production scheduling
- Shipping
If you plan to launch for a specific season or promotion, tell the supplier early.
This helps avoid creating a product plan that cannot realistically meet your deadline.
A Simple RFQ Example
Instead of writing:
“Please quote Vitamin C serum.”
Try:
“We are developing a 30ml Vitamin C serum for the US online market. We prefer a lightweight brightening formula, dropper bottle and custom printed box. Our expected first order is around 5,000 pcs, and we hope to launch within three months.”
This gives the supplier enough information to recommend a much more relevant quotation.
Better Information Leads to Better Quotations
A practical quotation process is:
Product idea → formula requirements → packaging → quantity → target market → budget → launch date → quotation
